After Amsterdam he completed the computer simulation of Space Mountain discovering that there was absolutely nothing about the ride experience itself that had frightened him. He had chosen to sit next to his mother instead of his father and he had never seen his completely unprepared mother so scared because she was shaking and could barely walk to get off the ride.
That's why Space Mountain was the location of Loid's first fear.
